Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 6:09 pm

While some people possess fish merely because they are an uncomplicated pet to possess, other people pride themselves in the tanks that they have prepared in the center of their homes. Some people spend thousands of dollars on their fish, so it is important to them that these valued fish go with them when they relocate. Therefore, setting up for a transfer often includes making contact with moving truck rental companies for moving van rentals, and a special relocating company that manages the moving of fish and aquarium equipment. If you are one of these people, then the first matter that you need to learn is that you need to get started as soon as possible, so that you have time to set up for all of the aspects of this transfer.

When relocating fish, you have to be especially cautious. Fish are usually somewhat delicate, and they will respond to the strain that a move puts on them. Changes in place plus the water that they have spent so much time in will all have a particular effect. Some fish simply cannot handle the pressure, and we lose several of them, although when your fish cost you much money, you wish to put in the time and effort to move each of them so that they reach your current home unhurt.

There are particular relocating companies available that only manage relocating pets. While some of these companies will only relocate animals like cats and dogs, there are other companies that are experts in relocating fish and reptiles. If you are anxious regarding you relocating your fish by yourself, then perhaps this is the route that you have to take. Remember that you need to take preventative measures in selecting a fish relocating company just like you would if you were selecting any other sort of relocating company. Take the time to think about your options and select the company that you feel is going to care for your animals better than any other.

If you do prefer to proceed and relocate your fish by yourself, remember these things. First, you need to keep the alteration of water that they stay in to a minimum. There are useful bacteria in the water that take time to progress, and usually, new water can result to shock that can result to the death of your fish. Continuously move your fish in a smaller container filled with water from the original tank so that they are already accustomed to it. Second, remember to give your fish adequate oxygen to make the whole trip. Remember, they will not have the benefit of a pump, thus you will have to include adequate oxygen in their travel container instead.

Don’t forget to take the time to get educated before you attempt to transport the fish. Taking time to organize and study is the perfect matter that you can perform in order to ensure that your valued fish reach their current home secure, whole, and with as little strain as likely.

Car Shipping: Dogs and Relocation

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 5:26 am

Owning a dog is something that is common throughout several families. When tackling a move, however, several of these families think that they have to get their dog a different home. Among acquiring car shipping quotes for the car shipping service, and gathering the information from the moving companies that are going to relocate your items, it may be hard to organize and consider what you will be doing with your dog while so much disorder is going on around you. Still, it is not impossible to include your dog in the moving plans; you just must take the time and begin right away.

Your dog is probably used to the method that you operate, and though the transformations might make them worried, they will always perform better if they are surrounded by the people that they are familiar with and that they recognize. Moving is a big adjustment for everyone, and your dog will not be able to inform you that they are afraid or worried. As such, you need to look forward to this and set a few time aside so that you may plan for their moving necessities along side of the moving needs of the residence and family.

As soon as you know that you will be transferring, take some time and check the options that you have when transferring a pet. If you are driving to your new home, then the transportation of the dog is not so hard, but you will have to plan on what to do with him on moving day. There will be lots of movement, a lot of pairs of feet, and lots of new smells. All of these concerns may cause a dog to be frightened and even act out. A dog that has never bitten before will possibly suddenly bite someone, or they will possibly run away out of a wide open door, permitting you to take time out of the relocation method to seek them.

These are all of the reasons that several people just try to look for new homes for their animals when they relocate, but all of these reasons may as well be averted with watchful organizing. On moving day, you need to have a unique place for your dog so that they are kept alone and calm. While being alone might be slightly stressful, being alienated from the disorder will be a much better choice than being in the middle of it. Don’t forget to mark an empty room off for your dog that moment, and make everyone conscious that your dog is in there and no one else has to attempt to enter the room. If probable, lock the door and avoid going in until moving day is over.

Throughout the moving method, accomplish what you are able to keep the arrangement the same as it was before the move turned up. This will aid both of you manage the other transformations that are occurring around you. If you take the time to learn and plan, both your family and your dog could get to your new home with as little stress as probable, and without having to evade a member of your home.

Home Remedy For Parvo Disease – What to Look for in Parvo Treatment?

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 6:01 pm

Dog parvo symptoms are usually present within 3 to 10 days of contact. Parvo Treatment is required urgently when symptoms appear. These symptoms include vomiting, lethargy, diarrhea and fever. The diarrhea will cause severe dehydration and secondary infections. Rather than dying from the virus itself, it is usually the secondary infections that kill.

The survival rate depends upon how swiftly parvo virus is diagnosed and treatment is begun. If the virus is not caught early on, the usual treatment is given through an IV line in which fluids are pushed to re-hydrate the puppy or dog more quickly. In addition to giving fluids, anti-nausea and antibiotic shots may be given intramuscularly. Given the proper care, the prognosis is good, but if care is withheld your dog will die prematurely. Most vets will strongly suggest that your pet be vaccinated against parvo about eight weeks after a puppy is weaned.

The intestinal dog parvo symptoms happen when the virus attacks rapidly dividing cells in the intestinal crypts, lymph nodes and bone marrow. This allows normally occurring bacteria from the intestine to enter the blood stream make the animal contagious. The virus is shed in the stool for up to three weeks making this disease very contagious to non-vaccinated pets.

The cardio form of this infection is usually seen in puppies that are infected before birth or shortly thereafter. It is noteworthy that the cardiac form of CPV is not as common since the mother passes immunity on to her pups from birth. The parvo virus will then attack the heart in the infected puppy and death will occur shortly afterwards.

Your Greyhound Needs To be Fed A Quality Pet Food

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 12:37 am

Greyhounds have a unique physiology so you should feed them a good quality diet with as few chemical preservatives as possible.Presevatives and additives are added to many mass market dog foods, and just like we see in children, these “hidden extras” can have a negative effect on any dog’s behaviour. The same can be said for greyhounds, whose behaviour can be negatively affected by chemicals contained within their food.

A specialist Greyhound Food should be the only type of food you give to your required or rescued greyhound.Greyhounds are generally active dogs, even if they are no longer racing. Do not worry so much about overfeeding unless your vet has advised that your greyhound is overweight.

One key ingredient is a quality greyhound food will be oil, and commonly fish oil. Fish oils offer a multitude of health benefits and will help to keep your dog’s skin healthy, coat glossy and eyes bright. You could also consider adding a teaspoon of cod liver oil into the breakfast feed or perhaps tinned pilchards, sardines or tuna (no brine) should be given two or three times a week.As with all pet food, if you feed a dry food product you need to also provide a dish of fresh water.

Dogs are able to digest raw meat easily, but don’t encourage it.If you are feeding raw meat make sure you never feed poultry or pork. Please also remember dogs are omnivores and not carnivores. Feeding meat alone will cause malnutrition as will feeding vegetables and cereals alone.

Ideally, stick to a quality, specialist pet food as this will contain all the meat your greyhound requires.

Assisting A Dog Move On Over Its Owner’s Death

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 2:35 am

I am a huge movie buff, with one of my all-time favorite teen flicks being “Clueless” starring Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd who later went on to “Friends” and other movies, and Brittany Murphy. So last December, I was stunned by the news about Brittany Murphy’s sudden death. Animal Chiropractic

As they laid her to rest, following her funeral at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California, my heart went out to her mother and her husband, Simon Monjack. News reports have listed the 32-year-old actress’ death as being caused by a heart attack at the home she shared with her husband in LA on December 20, 2009.

I have seen breathtaking pictures that Simon had taken of Brittany as I clicked on her husband’s web site. It is such a loss for someone that beautiful and talented to be taken too soon.

Aside from the tragic loss of her family and fans, what truly broke my heart was when I learned of Brittany’s female Maltese named Clara. I am such an animal lover that I cried when I read online at People magazine’s web site that Brittany’s husband said that the dog was experiencing a change in behavior since Brittany’s death.

Simon Monjack was quoted in People magazine, saying, “One of the saddest things is that Clara has looked everywhere for Brittany and can’t find her,” and “Clara, she looked in every place Brittany could be, she couldn’t understand why Brittany was not in bed or in the bathroom, and she looked in every inch of the house.” Brittany named her after silent film star Clara Bow and was reported as describing Clara as “a humongous personality in a tiny package. More than a pet, she is a family member.

This tragic turn of events made me wonder how pets react to their owner’s death though I had never really given much thought. Do pets mourn? If so, how do survivors handle the pet’s physical and emotional health during the mourning period?

My pet’s veterinarian, Dr.Ava Frick, is a specialist in pet behavior. In fact, she has been using Alpha Stim technology treatments on one of my dogs due to problems with his excessive barking and showing aggression toward my other two dogs.

At our next appointment, Dr.Frick and I discussed Clara and pets’ ability to mourn. She said that it is common for a dog to go through a mourning period after the loss of a human or animal companion. In fact, the symptoms can be exhibited for days or even weeks afterwards, including decreased appetite, lethargy, and changes in the dog’s behavior.

She said that keeping a dog in its normal routine in such cases is important. As with humans who are going through issues, exercise can do wonders to relieve stress for pets. Also, having acquaintance with familiar people and meeting new friendly faces can impove the pet’s mood.

It is a wise move to seek for professional advice if the pet’s mourning period seems to carry on. Physiologic abnormalities, which might be contributing to the dog’s depression can be determined by a veterinarian.

Dogs who are mourning and experiencing depression often respond well to complementary and alternative therapies, such as acupuncture, herbal supplements, and dietary modification. Dog Pain Relief

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 2:23 am

Every holiday, several kids ask their parents for a pet. Several parents keenly go out and satisfy their kid’s desires, but they don’t constantly consider the consequences. Animals are life forms, and there are several things that need to be taken into account before you can carefully add one to your home. This is but one of the many things that you should consider before you include a pet to your family.

Another one of the greatest concerns is who will in fact look after the animal as soon as it is housed in your house. While kids have great objectives, there are especially inadequate numbers of them that will truly care for all of an animal’s needs. As such, you will sometimes find that you, as the parent, will have to collect the slack that the babies leave behind when they fail to remember to feed or walk the pet. If you are okay with this agreement, then you have cleared the first difficulty, but there is still more to consider.

Pets enter trouble all through their lives, and you need to be prepared to handle anything that comes of the difficulty that they get into. Consider This When Buying An Anti Bark Collar

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 9:33 am

Are you tired of your dog’s constant barking? If your dog does not stop yapping even after you spend extra hours training it to behave well, it is time to consider getting a bark collar for your pooch. A bark collar is not exactly the thing that dog owners would prefer to train their dogs with, but it’s effective and gets the job done.

Dog owners know that their pet is unique in the world, which is why it’s always a good idea to invest some time comparing the different types of collars available. To help you choose the best bark collar for your dog, here are some of the most popular types of bark collars available in the market today.

The Ultrasound Bark Collar

The sonic bark collar is one of the most popular anti-bark collars available in the market today. Like a gadget from a James Bond movie, this bark collar emits a very high pitched sound when it detects excessive barking. The objective of the sound is to distract the dog from whatever he was barking at and make him focus on the sound. The sound is perfectly audible by dogs, but completely undetectable by humans, so don’t think that it doesn’t work just because you can’t hear it. Some people think that the exposure to a high pitched sound is harmful to the dog, but in reality it’s as harmful as listening to the highest note on a piano is to you. Besides, most dogs stop barking upon hearing the high pitched sound from the collar so they won’t be exposed to it for a long time.

The Citronella Collar

This type of collar can detect barking and counteracts it by spraying the dog’s muzzle with citronella smell whenever the dog barks. Citronella has a strong smell that can be very irritating to dogs. When dogs finally realize that their own barking is what triggers the citronella spray, they start to reduce their barking. Now, the downside of this type of collar is that smell of the citronella often lingers on the snout of your dog for several minutes or even hours in some cases. Some dogs can get stress or anxiety if they can’t get rid of the smell. If your dog is extremely sensitive or irritable to citronella, then this type of bark collar is not your best choice.

The Shock Bark Collar

Putting a shock collar on your dog’s neck may be an effective way to stop your dog from barking incessantly but this practice may have some negative effect on your dog. The collar works by sending light electric pulses to the dog’s neck muscles whenever the dog barks. The idea of a dog receiving electric shocks for barking is somewhat difficult to accept for some dog owners.

Principles of Bark Control

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 12:35 am

Dogs will be dogs and they will always bark because it’s part of their nature. Having said so, dog owners have the responsability to train their dogs to reduce their barking to a pace that’s acceptable in the area where they live. Constant barking that is not related to health issues can and will annoy people who live with the dog or people that live nearby. That is the reason bark control should be a priority for people that have dogs. Companies have detected this need a long time ago, and they have come up with several bark control products that can make training easier for both owner and dog.

The Anti Bark Collar

If you are trying to find a method of bark control that will work with your dog, the anti barking collar is one of your best bets. With the existence of several models of collars that use different methods of correction, you will always find one that will suit your dog’s personality, as well as your pocket. The range of collars in the market is so wide that it satisfies everyone’s needs.

The shock collar is one of the most effective ones; however it has somewhat of a bad reputation since many people believe the shock is too strong or painful, which is not actually true.

If you feel uncomfortable making your dog wear an electric shoc collar, you can get one that uses a milder way to correct your dog, like the citronella anti bark collar. The collar’s microphone detects the barking of a dog, and then activates a small spray that shoots a bit of citronella essence in front of the dog’s nose. The citronella smell, in case you don’t know, is the same smell that is used to repel mosquitoes.

The citronella anti bark collar is becoming popular because it’s good for teaching your dog to limit its barking without subjecting it to the controversial electrical shocks.

Dog Training Courses

Dog collars are definitely the easiest way to handle intolerable barking. Even so, some dog owners will still prefer to have a trainer from a dog school teach their dogs bark control discipline. This option is the most expensive one, but it’s also the best one if your dog is not responding well to any other option you try.

Even after training, a bark control collar is recommended to prevent your dog from reverting to its old ways.

Most bark control collars have settings that allow you to turn off them off. It’s recommended that you do this to give your dog a rest, or to let him bark at intruders at night.

Getting Rid Of The Barking While Keeping Your Dog: The Bark Dog Collar

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 2:41 am

Excessive dog barking can cause a hassle and annoyance for more than just you. If you have neighbors nearby they can probably hear your dog barking or howling all night too and this is just not fair. Among the many responsibilities of dog owners, the training of a dog to avoid late night barking is one of their most important ones.

While a dog will always bark, there are a few options out there that can eliminate excessive barking. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, or don’t have the time for every day training, then a bark dog collar is probably your best choice.

Your Choices

If you have decided to get a bark dog collar for your favorite pet, then you need to decide which of the many types of collar you will get. For example, there is the shock collar, which is frowned upon by some dog owners. This collar uses an electric shock that actually shocks your dog when they bark. These shocks are very mild, and to the dog’s skin, they aren’t painful at all, yet many animal lovers find them cruel and excessive.

If this is your case, then you can try a method that seems less harsher, like the citronella anti bark collar. This collar works in the same way only instead of an electric shock, a simple spray of citronella is used. The spray is totally painless, and distracts the dog from the object or person that it was barking at, and focuses its attention on the smell.

The smell is very intense, and by nature, dogs will try to find out what’s going on. With enough time, dogs will link the barking with the citronella spray, and will learn to limit their barking whenever they are wearing the collar, A bark dog collar is only meant to be used for training, and it includes a switch that allows you to turn it off at night or when your dog should be able to bark freely; for example, when your dog is serving as a guard dog.

In this role, a dog will instinctively bark at any strange noise or person that it’s not familiar with; if they see that they aren’t punished for the barking, they will continue to bark until the stranger leaves or you are alerted of the danger.

The bark dog collar is really effective and definitely cheaper than anti bark training at a dog school.
