Cat Behavior Problems – Tips To Train Your Cat

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 7:37 am

Today’s modern way of life has opened doors for more animal lovers and pet enthusiasts to become responsible cat owners. However as they traverse the path of pet rearing, they are most likely to encounter several cat behavior problems. This is because despite of the cat’s cuddly image and affectionate demeanor, they can also be temperamental and stubborn at times.

The occurrence of these cat behavior problems may be rooted to the personality of your pet. Contrary to the beliefs of many, each cat is different from the other. This means that there is no single way in dealing with these problems. Each case may have a different solution and the cure for one problem may solve or worsen another. Experts have found that cat behavior problems are most likely triggered by some things or events that your cat does not like. The following are some of the most common cat behavior problems and some tips to deal with them.

Cats with Aggressive Behavior- One of the most common cat behavior problems a cat owner can stumble upon would be aggression. This behavior problem is known to cause damage in the house. In addition, cats with this issue are also known to pester visitors and start fights with other cats..

Going out and purchasing a scratch pad or ball of yarn might be a good idea in that your cat will be able to release his or her energy in the process of playing rather than damaging your belongings or possessions. On the other hand, behavioral problems in your cat that involve your cat being overly shy may be fixed by training your cat to overcome his or her inhibitions.

Shyness- A cat may feel shyness or awkwardness when in the presence of strangers or even your friends that it does not know. This is because the cat does not feel comfortable on things that it isn’t familiar with. With proper training and familiarization, you can help your cat get over his or her inhibitions.

Cat behavior problems such as shyness can be cured by gradually increasing the size of its social environment. By getting it involved in activities with other people it will soon develop tolerance and familiarity. Litter Training The most challenging cat behavior problems you can come across is litter training. It is very irritating to have your cat unload just about anywhere in the house. This should be corrected as soon as possible because the longer you wait to take action; the harder it will be in breaking its bad habit. .

However, like all cat behavior problems this one is also treatable. Just situate a comfy litter area and lead your cat into it whenever it litters. You can also use the trusty reward system and give it a treat whenever it uses the litter box. This method will help your cat develop better potty habits.

Getting Dog Collars for your dogs?

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 8:51 am

If you have a dog, odds are you be interested in getting him a collar. You should however not just get any dog collar but the right one. The choice of a dog collar will depend on the type of dog in question. Collars are available in a lot of sizes. You will also find different styles.

Dog collars are generally used for one main task-that of controlling your dog. With a leash attached to your dog collar, you will be better placed to control the antics of your dog when you go for your occasional neighborhood walk. As a result of its importance, you will need to pay attention to several features of your dog collar.

Undoubtedly the size of your dog collar matters. If your dog collar is too small, you stand the risk of choking your dog. Not a pleasant or nice thing to do. Collars should be loose enough to rotate but not loose enough to slip over the ears of the dog. Allowance should be made for at least two of your fingers between the collar and dog’s throat. You should however avoid making the collar too large because, most dogs will quickly figure out a way to slip out of their collar if they are given half the chance. You should also ensure that the material of the collar fits with the breed of dog in question. A collar should be able to withstand the strain that will be caused by an attached leash. For instance a Rottweiler will need stronger collars than a cute little Chihuahua.

Rhinestone Dog Collar and Personalized Dog Collar

Personalizing your dog collar is another common area of use. Personalized dog collars are able to carry some of the identity information of your canine. You will easily be able to include the name of your dog as well as the address of your home. Collars can also be made to include information like the name of your dog’s favorite meal. These will undoubtedly prove important in the unlikely event that your dog gets lost. Collars can be further personalized with fashion elements. You can get collars in various colors, all of which are designed to ensure your dog gets a different wardrobe every day.

Children are often highly susceptible to rabbit allergies, but proper rabbit grooming is one way to eliminate the household allergies you and your family experience.

Of course, doing any sort of rabbit care will benefit your rabbit in a physical way but it will also help the owner and pet bond better. Holding your rabbit will be much more pleasant too. As well as the rabbit care basics, as the owner you will soon start to learn that your rabbit has certain areas that like to be stroked. Also, you will examine whether your pet has a health problem when he or she flinches when you touch a certain area.

Keep your eyes peeled for skin diseases and lumps and bumps which can only be felt under the skin. Things like fleas and ticks are also common with rabbits, just like with cats and dogs, so be sure to check for these.

Be sure to take things slowly when you do rabbit grooming as this will ensure you don’t miss anything. Pet owners will know that rabbit grooming forms a small part of rabbit care in general, but it is still important. Some people just think they should groom their dogs and cats, but all animals can benefit from grooming.

The health benefits of pet grooming are unrivalled, and it can reduce the risk of sickness. Also look out for the fact your pet will become much more relaxed when around you.

How To Make It Easier ToLocate Your Lost Animal

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 10:18 am

Every year, hundreds of pets get lost and sometimes the owners are unable to find the lost pet; however, there are a few things pet owners can do to make sure, if their pet is lost, it will make it easier to find it. One thing pet owners can do, is keep a current picture of the animal with them at all times. For example, lots of dog owners get photo dog tags so they have a current picture of their little creature on their key chain at all times. The owner could also create photo jewelry and keep the the relatively new picture of the pet on a necklace or bracelet. Another thing owners may choose to do is to have a GPS chip surgically implanted in the pet. Finally, it is really important for each owner to buy a collar that has a tag with the pet’s name and a phone number where the family can be reached. Doing at least one of these things will be an enormous aide in the case that an owner loses a pet. Below is a more specific list of each option:

1. Keep an up to date picture of your pet with you at all times. You never know when your pet might go missing, so if you need to go to the police station or have the police at your house immediately, you will have to show a picture of your pet. A great way to do this is to have a picture of your adored creature on your key chain, so if your pet is lost, you don’t have to search your house for a photograph.

2. Have your vet surgically insert one of the GPS chip into your pet. This is a cutting edge technology and it can a very large help if you have lost your pet. The chip allows you to log onto the computer and see exactly where the pet has gone off to or where someone who stole your pet has taken him/her. This is one of the most accurate ways of attempting to locate your lost pet.

3. Finally, all pet owners really need to have a collar on their pet which has the name of the pet, the city where the family lives, and a phone number where the family can be quickly and easily reached. Hopefully, if a stranger picks up your missing pet they will stop the pet can call the phone number on the tag. With this option you would have to hope that someone would take the time to hold onto your pet and attempt to contact you.

When a beloved animal is missing, it makes it a whole lot if the family has taken some precautions with their pets by having a collar on the pet or by having a GPS chip in the pet. By doing at least one of the options above, pet owners are taking a step to ensuring their pet will be home safely if it is lost. It is extremely imperative for pet owners to make sure they complete at least one of those options in case their pet does get lost, then finding the pet will be much easier and the chances of the pet coming home safely go greatly increase.

Dog Food Suppliers Sorting The Good From The Bad

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 11:47 pm

If you have a new dog and you’re spending your time working out which dog food suppliers to buy from, it is important that you make the right decision for the sake of your pet’s health. Naturally, you want the best for your pooch, but the food you feed it also needs to be affordable. Don’t get sucked into the idea that all dog food suppliers are there for your dog’s benefit, because they are quite simply not. Here are some guidelines to looking at dog food suppliers:

1) Love Pets – check that the dog food supplier cares about dogs as much as you do, as this means they will put more care and attention into the food they make. Anyone involved with making dog food should have a passion for animals. It is a sad fact that some brands do it just for the business of making money, but thankfully there are mainly brands out there that do it for the love of pets. Generally, the dog food is wholesome, packed full of nutrients and really tasty.

2) Pushing The Boundaries – look for the dog food suppliers that push the boundaries and keep producing an innovative product range. New products for a wide range of dogs is important, so always keep your eyes peeled for a supplier redeveloping the brand with the dog and owner’s best interests at heart.

3) Consider Bulk – Buy in bulk and get a good price from the best dog food supplier. Plus, there are some dog food suppliers out there who will offer free samples for your pet to try, which will be a good indicator of whether or not your pet likes the food, before you buy a big stack of it. Remember, chopping and changing your dog’s pet food is not advisable, so a few samples is a good idea to start off with.

It can be hard sorting through the vast world of dog food suppliers, but hopefully with a bit of luck you should start to make some headway with the points raised in this article. Also, something so simple as a website should give a good indication to what the brand is like before you buy, so do some thorough research.

My Recommendations For Dog Training

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 4:37 am

I was thinking to myself, “Why would I need obedience training for my dog”? Then, I came to realize obedience training is just like potty training a toddler.

When I finally decided to look for dogs, I did not know if I wanted to go to a dog adoption, get a small dog like a Terrier or Chihuahua, or which I really thought I wanted, a German Shepard.

I went to the kennel and picked out a Red male Doberman pinscher. I fell in love with that dog, but really the struggle was yet to come. People insisted that I send him to dog training classes. Different scenario’s just kept popping up like obedience training, dog training collars, dog behavior training and potty training. I realize that this is where money starts to add up. It’s like having a child!

I live in Manhattan, in other words, “dog heaven”. It looks like there are just as many dogs as there are people, with these dogs walking around with their masters. Dog training classes or obedience training can be a big expense. “Dobee” was a 5 months and growing fast so I opted for real positive dog training. They ask, “Who else wants their dog to be well behaved around people and other dogs, have them obey all of your house rules even when you’re not around?”

The best decision I could of made, honestly.

You do not want this to happen. “He steals food from the plae.” “he won’t come back when he is called.” “He destroyed the living room furniture.” “He barks all night.” “He’s a great dog, but I wish he wouldn’t . . . “

Helping Your Pet With Pet Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 2:15 am

One of my favorite TV shows is called Stargate and I must admit I really do enjoy it. It has as its basic premise that aliens use humans as hosts for themselves. While controlling their mind they are a highly advanced alien race that resembles a snake and inhabits the bodies of humanoids. In one episode a friendly alien is removed from its host and is dying. They try to replicate its surroundings inside of a human but it still continues to die. One of the doctors is reminded that a human being has a small electrical current going through the body continuously, just as it seems that all hope is lost; kind of like a built in perpetual microcurrent therapy. When the doctors placed a tiny electric charge in the alien’s artificial environment it gradually came back to life. Animal Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation

Electrotherapy, or, microcurrent therapy has been used for at least two thousand years. In fact, to help cure such things as gout and headaches a Roman Doctor named Scribonius Largus in 46 AD recommended to his patients that they should stand on top of a live torpedo fish. Torpedo fish can give off a powerful electric shock to stun their prey. Also recommending the electric fish as an appropriate medical therapy was a physician named Claudius Galen In the second century.

To fight every thing from depression to anxiety; headaches and many other disorders including back aches and spinal injuries Low intensity CES has been used for centuries all over the world. Why shouldn’t our pets benefit from this science with so much history and research and success with microcurrent therapy?

I came across a website when I was researching a problem I was having with my cat. A lady named Ava Frick is seeing enormous results using CES on household pets and horses. By the proper use and placement of microcurrent therapy implements she’s seeing depression, anxiety, pain, and many other problems which plague the animals we love and adore fade away. She’s an outstanding expert in the fields of pet and animal pain, anxiety, and depression.

I know that some of you may be thinking of that device that my mother-in-law purchased in order to stop her dog from barking. It was a device that went around his neck and whenever he barked the collar would emit an enormous electric shock that would terrify the dog into submission. That is not what I’m talking about when writing about microcurrent therapy. I feel I must make that point crystal clear. That kind of electric shock therapy really should be outlawed and is torturous in my opinion. To provide happiness and joy to your beloved animals microcurrent therapy is designed to relieve pain and suffering. Don’t allow yourselves to be tricked by what the two devices seem to have in common. There really are none. Ava Frick uses state of the art technology in a highly controlled environment to ensure your animal is in the best environment to enable healing and relief. Animal Chiropractic

Dog Health Care Made Fun Giving A Bath To A Puppy

Filed under: Pets — AquaMan @ 1:44 pm

Bathing a puppy can be a real challenge, especially when your pup uses every resource to thwart your attempts to get them clean. Please persevere with puppy bathing though, if only for the sake of your dog health care routine. Your puppy will learn what the cleaning process involves at an early age, and this is good. So, in order to have a clean, happy dog at the end, the way you go about your pet health practices is important and you should take the following advice:

To start with, you need to get your essential supplies in order. These include a coat-conditioning spray (for long-haired dogs) and a natural-bristle brush during times of heavy shedding. Also get a generously-sized towel to wrap your pooch in later. Then you need to make sure you’re wearing clothes that you don’t mind about getting wet. Bathe your puppy when its hungry to get its full attention. To make sure your dog behaves well, give him some treats when in the bath. Make it seem enjoyable to your dog. Then its time to get the brush out, which some dogs don’t like. Any knots or tangles in your puppy’s coat will tighten and become worse when wet, so you want to comb out all tangles before turning on the tap. Spray long coats with conditioner and brush thoroughly, then comb through, making sure you get all the way down to the skin.

Pay attention to the areas behind your dog’s ears. Tell your puppy how good he is at having a bath and reward him with treats. Show him his toy and let him play with it a little in the tub before you turn on the water. Use something gentle on a puppy’s head, like a baby shampoo. Don’t let the water touch the dog until you are sure it is the right temperature. Then the fun part! Gently spray mild warm water onto its fur. The trick with shampoo is massaging it, and this should be done in short circles. It is also useful to use a scrub brush to massage the shampoo in. After completing this once, make sure you do it again to make sure your puppy is extra clean. There’s always more soap that needs to be removed. The final step is to condition the fur and rinse, and when this is complete its time for the towel to dry your puppy off.
