However, uncle and the children chose straw for the bedding as they read that Straw helps the water drain to the bottom and it will give the chickens something to “scratch” through. It’s safe for them to eat.
His research bought up the fact that by building your own coop you could save over 50%, especially if you wanted more chickens so chose to build a large coop. However, he didn’t want a plan where he would have to buy tools, or else, he probably wouldn’t save any mone. Uncle Dave has a lot of tools in his garage so felt he could use these to build his coop.
